Emma-Lee Joe

Board Member

Emma-Lee Joe is from a small community in the Nłeʔkepmx nation in British Columbia. She returned to her home community in 2018 to raise her now 4-yr-old daughter and work as a coordinator at a Nłeʔkepmxcin language nest. In her western education, she has a Certificate in Indigenous Language instruction, a BA, and a BEd (Elementary). She is currently working on an MEd in Early Childhood Education. It is the intersection of family, education, and employment that led to an interest in designing activities for young children to practice Nłeʔkepmx language and culture based on traditional activities and teaching.
