Renee San Souci

Renee Sans Souci (Omaha Tribe of Nebraska and Iowa) is a poet and educator. As a child, Renee was strongly influenced by the images and struggles of Native people during the 20th century. Her poetry and writing reflect the thoughts and feelings of being Native in this contemporary time period of the 21st Century known as the “Turtle Island Renaissance.” Renee is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Education and Human Sciences, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. As a certified educator (K-8) and ESL (K-12) instructor, Renee is currently designing a language survival school based on Native philosophy and worldviews. She is dedicated to Native youth suicide prevention, language revitalization, community healing and to restoring spiritual connection to the Sky and the Earth through Native teachings.
